Pompano Beach — Closed-Cell Spray Foam for Detached Garage Conversion. The owners were turning a detached two-car garage into a home office and guest suite, but the uninsulated CMU walls and bare roof deck made the space unusable above 80 degrees outside. Traditional batts weren’t an option — the metal roof had no rafter cavity to fill, and the block walls needed a moisture barrier as much as a thermal one. We applied 3 inches of closed-cell spray foam directly to the underside of the roof deck and 2 inches across the interior face of the block walls, achieving R-21 on the roof and R-13 on the walls in a single pass. The conversion now holds 74 degrees on a mini-split that’s half the size the HVAC contractor originally specced.
